Key Feature: Retro Cool with the lovely Pania
One for the collectors! This blanket combines retro cool colours with a lovely oversize Glenray label. Plus in fantastic condition for another 40+ years of use.
70's Olive combined with almost fluro peach orange, plus soft turquoise mint and a backbone of cream. Gotta wonder where they were getting their inspo from?!!
Single size 150cm x 200cm. The wool is medium to thick with a nice and even weave.
Beautiful condition with fresh white blanket stitching top and bottom. Three small quirky patch repairs have been added in contrasting purple/orange.
Another highlight of this blanket is the wonderful label. Featuring the classic Pania of the Reef image and reads Napier Glenray Blanket by Mosgiel Woollen Mills and noteable absence of Napier Woollen Mills.
This makes the blanket very interesting to date! At first look we can look at the colours and how the wool is woven and generalise this is a 1970's blanket. However this extra information confirms it! Mosgiel Woollen Mills took over ownership of the Napier Woollen Mill in the 1960's then went into receivership in 1980 planting this blanket somewhere in the middle. And while we are talking about the label I just LOVE its oversize. 11cm x 8.5cm it is almost twice the size of a standard label. Exciting!
